Trailer tow wiring for the 2013 and 14 trucks

So long Nashville Hello Montgomery AL

I just arrived yesterday in Elkhart, IN the RV Capitol of the world. I traveled from SoCal starting last Wednesday and traveled thru CA, AZ, NM, MO, IL and IN. I noted every RV hauler and hotshotter with a DOT sign on the side of their truck. I assumed it would be RAM, GM and then Ford way last but not so.

Results

RAM 59 Dually's, 5 SRW Total 64

Ford 10 Dually's, 5 SRW Total 15

GM 7 Dually's, 3 SRW Total 10

I stopped counting once I hit Elkhart. I have seen MANY RAM's here since yesterday with a couple fords and GM's.

My experience driving I-5 is different with the vast majority being RAM's and about 1/3 being GM's and near no Fords each trip North and south.

Thanks. I like seeing stats like that! I don't think I would be able to keep accurate count and drive.
Indeed I once got excited to see a Ram out working, but now it's a regular thing. I don't have a shot, but I was at Dover intl speedway last weekend and they use a early 3 gen with a jet dryer in the bed for track drying BUT the official truck is Toyota. :-laf

7+3=10 on the GM side, no credit for 13

I did similar count several years ago, counting 200 total working trucks. Before the Ford 6.0 it was almost even between Dodge & Ford, about 40% each, with GM taking dead last. I posted it on RV.Net and was pummeled by GM owners who swore I was only seeing what I wanted to see. LMAO!!!

I see a mix. Sometimes more chevy than others, some times a few more dodge than ford or chevy. Sometimes Im the only dodge there. But when I am the only dodge there, I do feel a little smug and get a little feeling of superiority. :-laf

For whatever reason Ford has been the dominant choice around here for many years, both personal and fleet use.*

The last 3-5 years I've seen a major uptick in Dodge/Ram rigs and more recently more and more fleet trucks and specialty vehicles. Interestingly of the Ford fleet vehicles I see roughly half are gassers now a days.*

My poll was only RV haulers and hotshotters, I am sure the VAST majority were personal rigs. Fleet trucks most likely will be dominated by Fords. Lots of Ambulances and wreckers are going RAM.

I have a thread kicking around on 4gen working trucks. It's a pretty common sight nowadays.

Ford will be the king of massive fleets because they deal well in gov and big contracts, and the sheer number of cab/chassis configs can't be beat. They even have a spec extended cab just for FDNY ambulances. Between this and other politics, I can't get away from them.
