Got my new platinum trailer!!!!!!

I found a copy of a movie I made in 2001. It contains clips from a trip my wife and took from Alaska to Keywest and back again the long way. We traveled for seven months, crossed the Continental Divide 9 times, and traveled over 21,000 in, what else, a Dodge 3500 CTD with a Lance Camper in the bed. We left Alaska the middle of Sept. and got home in the middle of April. Accompanying us on the trip were our two Labs Buck & Tye. The clips are short trying to keep the entire trip to a limited time.

Everything you will see in this video is timeless. If you could afford the cost of diesel fuel today and follow the footsteps of the this trip nothing would be changed, everything would be the same. If you have time to view. . . Enjoy The Ride.

I had to split the video into 4 parts due to Youtbes limitations, and they can be viewed in HQ at Youtube.

Thanks Crazy Horse. I only saw a small part of it, which is very well done. I will see it all when I have more time.

We've been to Alaska twice. The last time was in July 06 on our 05 Dodge DRW and our Lance camper (now sold). We intend on another trip with our Arctic Fox 5th Wheel as soon as my wife retires. Great trip.

Ok... watched the whole trip through. Nice work!

I hope my wife and I can some day soon embark on a long road trip as this. :D

Watched the whole thing ~ I'm totally envious!
I couldn't quite hear the narration of the trailer coming loose over the music. I Take it the draw bar came loose but the dogs weren't in the trailer?

I only watched the first video great camera work and I am ready to go. Wish I could now, but I do not think the DW would leave the grand kids for seven months.

Thanks for sharing.

I'm glad you all liked the video. There was allot of the trip that didn't make the cut because I didn't want it to get so long no one would want to watch it.

Prairie Dog, What happened on the trailer was the trailer extension to get beyond the camper let go at the weld. I could not believe what I was seeing in the side view mirror. The trailer was sliding off to the left on the tongue of the trailer at 50 mph. Luckily no there was no oncoming traffic at that time. When the trailer tongue caught the snow/earth off the left side of the road it kicked the trailer up in the air and it cart wheeled on all four corners. When it came down to it's final resting point it snapped the left spindle off flush with the axle. I could not believe there was not a scratch or dent on the trailer anywhere. Glad I used GR8 bolts to mount it. So there we sat along the side of the road, biscuits, dogfood, charcoal for the cooker and everything that was in the trailer spewed all over the snow. The closest place to have the repairs done was 200 miles over the mountains back into Flagstaff. Luckily we found a good place to get the repairs done. Because of the time of day we had no place to go and Bill, at Bill's Welding allowed us to plug in for the night. The next day they put a 3,500lb axle under the trailer and straighted and reinforced the extension/tongue also. Their bill was very reasonable considering the 200 mile tow and the repairs. Luckily the dogs were not in the trailer as they always rode shotgun where the back seat would be. They probably would have killed if they were in the trailer because the kennels got busted up pretty good. I would never allow or recommend any living thing (dog, child, etc. ) ride in any trailer on the the road. I have seen people riding in travel trailer down the road and all I do is shake my head. The moral of the story is don't try to save a buck and have someone you know (non-professional/certified) do a welding job for you. Upon inspecting the weld at Bill's, my "buddy" did a PP welding job. The extension I now us is a 2" square solid extension from the receiver to the trailer.

George, I'm glad you liked them. Every time I watch these they stir a silent urge inside of me. It pulls on your mind, come on lets go!
