Yesterday I tried to do a brake stand comp on 5x5 had lots of smoke,0 to only 5lbs boost and the engine started to miss or pop after a couple of seconds of WOT and no tire spin. What would cause this had no MIL but didn't check for codes. It runs great otherwise took it out on the road and WOT got 38 lbs boost. I have tried to brake stand it before with no luck also could the rear disc brakes hold too strong for this? But my main concern was the miss or popping while trying this, its never done this before does anyone have any ideas?

Did you try it with the Comp off? maybe it was overfueled from the start? Mine does a mean brakestand even with the rear discs and 4W ABS. I couldn't believe it considering my old 2000 V10 with the same setup would barely chirp the tires with the ABS system. I barely had to touch the brakes to get my '01 CTD going once the turbo built up some boost.

i have found that if you jump on the brakes hard and then let off a little she will light them right up ... as far as the poppin i dunno

what rpm did it start to miss at?

All I could get was around 1500 rpm. My setup does not build boost until rpm is over 1500 and load is applied not happy with this turbo wanted one that would spool earlier.comp 1x1-2x2 wot 32 psi max boost 3x3-4x4 wot max boost 34-35, 5x5 wot max boost is 38 psi. No matter what setting comp is on I can not build boost until over 1500 rpm usually 1800-2000 rpm before boost really spools up. :(

Jong- I only tried with comp at 5x5. it will break tires loose from dead stop but with limited slip and around 1,000 lb tool box in box it just launches while tires chirp through about 40 mph but not breaking loose.

ccahill- no billets just a BD converter and valvebody and a torquelock. I plan to try sled pulling this summer if it breaks I'll do it then I want to see what the stock will actually take myself. We are having a dyno day tomorrow on saturday in Bismarck I will know what power is with comp on 5x5. Then I will see how many pulls I get out of it.

I just checked for codes and :D -------- is what I saw there is still good in the world yet. Knock on wood.

I think I know the answer to my problem after researching and talking with people I believe this to be the work of the ECM and Torque management built into it. I think if it sees 15psi boost and no wheel speed it defuels or derates so you can't wreck something. Is this a correct diagnosis anyone?
