Does anyone know if the trip computer can be re-calibrated for a rear end ratio change out from 3. 54 to 4. 10, or is automatic corrected when the speedometer is re-calibrated, and how doe one recalibrate the speedo.

thanks Joe

No adjustment of the speedo.........

The speedo is run from the carrier in the rear end. Or something like that. When you change gears it's already set.

When I changed my gears on my 96, I went to the local dealer and got the different gear that is needed on the transmission. The speedo cable goes into the transmission om the drivers side. Phillip

Somewhere about '98. 5 or '99 they started using the rear wheel ABS sensor to determine vehicle speed (for trip computer, too). Since this is after the ring and pinion, it doesn't know what axle gear you have. However, if you change tire size... ..... I believe the dealer can reprogram the '00 or '01 and later for tires, but only for the sizes that were available from the factory. Hope this helps.

Trip computer/Speedometer Calibration

Contact Rickson Truck Accessories http://www.ricksontruck.com/ for a device, the Abbot "Electronic Pulse Adapter", if your truck is one of the '99 or later units with computer driven speedometer, gauges, etc. I put 285/75R tires on my '99 and was able to calibrate the speedo to within 3/10 of a mile in 100 miles. Speedometer, trip odometer, all are right on now. Takes 30-45 minutes to install.
