Picked up my 600 from Tom Chaney in St Louis yesterday. Just got back to North Carolina-800 miles one way from St. Louis. The overhead showed a 16. 1 mpg average for the trip. IMO, that's not bad for the first 800 miles on the truck! I mixed up the rpm's for the first 100-150 miles. Drove 45 mph for 20 miles then up to 50 mph for 20 miles, then to 55 and 60 mph. Kept it under 2000 rpms for the first 100 miles. After that I cruised at 70 and would bump it down to 65 or 60 trying to varying the speeds for a while. By the time I hit the Great Smokey mountains, she had over 500 miles on her and was ready to roll up some hills. Never had one problem with vibrations at any speed or any rear end noise. All in all, I think I did as good as possible to try and break her in like recommended. The truck now has 825 miles on it and I'm going to hook up my trailer with 2-3000 lbs on it and drive a couple hundred miles now to really work the Cummins in. All in all, the trip home was great, stayed in Knoxville overnight, and I can't say enough good things about Tom Chaney. Great guy with exceptional knowledge. He comes highly recommended. Thanks for the service your provide us Tom. BTW, Tom's SO Cummins truck feels very strong on the 4/4 TST setting. He picked me up at the airport in it
I was very impressed to say the least! Good luck to you Tom and thanks again!
I'll get the pics to you of the Grand National behind the new 600 ASAP!
