I have a 2001 Ram with an Autometer 3-gauge dash mount setup that I really like. It sits in the middle of the dash.

Today I met a very nice gentleman, Dave Carter, who has a '93 D350 2wd. He's been a TDR member since the early TDR days. He is wanting to do something similar with his truck, a nice 3-gauge setup. Today was the first time I really examined a 1st-genner with gauges in mind and it doesn't look like there would be a lot of options for a triple gauge setup. The pod I have doesn't look like it will mount up without a lot of modification.

The A-pillars are more vertical and thinner than on my truck. Plus the dash isn't a mile deep (I like the natural non-cab-forward styling of the 1st gen rigs where everything has more "normal" proportions and you can easily reach the BACK of the engine!).

Anyway, since I don't normally shop for 1st gen stuff, can you guys give me some feeback/ideas?

Thanks much,

Vaughn

I have a 3 guage dash mount on my 92. I have no idea how to post a picture on the TDR, if you email me, your email address, I can send them to you if you want. I tried to email you the pictures, using the TDR profile email address, but I never seen anyway to attach something.

I'm using a 3 gauge "pod" on my dash on the far right side. (its visible if you look in my photo gallery 'Bobs Gallery' ) At the time, they did not have a "mid-dash" gauge cluster.

I don't have any internal dash/gauge pics yet though.

The mount is a fairly natural place for your eyes to glance too and do not distract too much from the road if you have to look over.

I got mine from BD Power some years ago and I'm sure they still market them.

Let me know if you'd like me to call or would like their toll free number.

Rodney, that is a nice looking setup you have. Did you get yours from Piers? Did you bet the base somewhere or make it yourself?

(Rodney's gauges)

Vaughn,

At our shop we have a those mounts for both the right and left side of the dash. Plus, we have the consoles with provisions for 3, 4, and 5 gauges. :D The mounts are pretty slick, but usually when I do them, I always just carve out the bottom of the console, contouring it to the dash. Looks a little better this way. :D

My dash mount is the same as Rodneys and I also have a 3 guage A pilar setup. I used a 2 gauge and a single to make the 3 guage setup. I had to use a die-grinder to get a good fit on the single. It came out pretty good - sorry no pictures. I got both setups (A pilar) through Auto Meter.

Happy Trails

Bob
