After a transmission shop checked my check engine light codes

and disassembled my transmission they found it ready to lockup.

There was a lot of metal and the main gear, that fits into the planetary

gear set (of which there were only 4 gears) was badly shaved down.

I had them put in a Triple-lock torque converter, hardened input shaft,

a shift kit and they boosted up the hydraulic psi. The truck shifts hard

now (I expected a change in how it hooks up) but didn't expect it to be so

dramatic. The truck only had 106K on it so I am going to ask my local

Dodge dealer why I had an early failure. Wanted to beef up the transmission

anyway so that I can start making engine modifications.

Anyone have any comments on the hard shift?

Thanks, Lance

Mine don't downshift ever once in a while, like to tear the drivetrain outta the thing till I pop it in neutral. Now it's my habit, pop it in neutral when stopping. Sorta defeats the automatic part of having an automatic. Sitting in Bakersfield Flying J, headin for Pendleton, OR. Got the R&P side bearings replaced in Eugene, OR on the way down. Now looking for a shop to change out the break in oil in the diff and replace with synthetic. Rainin all over the place, snowin on top of everything, saw the sun today. . . but not for long.

Cheers,

Steve J
