Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Trouble Code ???

I just checked my codes as I occassionaly do. This time I

Unfortunately got ... P-1687 PCU and P-1693 ECU



No MIL (check engine light?) present... so am curious if I am looking at an problem that needs to be addressed immediately? Truck appears to be running as well as ever.



Don't want to rush to dealership if not necessary as I know chasing down computer/code issues can cost $$$$ and no guarantee of satisfactory results. Thanks for your help.

P1687 No MIC BUS Message No CCD/J1850 messages received from the Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC) module.



P1693 (M) DTC Detected in Companion Module A fault has been generated in the companion engine

Since the Mechanical Instrument Cluster appears to be functioning correctly; I went ahead and disconnected the batteries today for a couple of hours. Upon re-initialization & running another "key test"... . NO Codes.



Hopefully this fixed the situation permanently. HOPEFULLY!
