4BT Power Steering Pump question

1999 cummins with auto tourqe converter issue

I have a 2001 Cummins 4x4 6 speed manual. With edge comp box. Valair DD Clutch. It has a small lift pump on the frame rail. The filter is an external unit from the LP. Also the previous owner said that it had an Industrial Injection Hot Rod VP44 Injection Pump. It is Otherwise stock.

Today when I got into the truck to drive to work it had the Check Engine Light on. So I cycled the key three times and read the codes. They are

PCU - P0163

P Done

P ECU - P0237
P0382
P0380.

I have noticed that when I get into 5th and 6th gear. If I’m not heavy on the pedal that it likes to shutter a little. Like fuel filter is clogged or if your in to high of a gear going up an incline. It’s not a bad shutter. But an annoying one at that. So I was planning on doing. Valve lash. Fuel filter with seam foam or Howe’s meaner cleaner and an oil change with oil stabilizer.
I also plan on installing my Fass Titanium 165 with 1/2 lines and Sump when I get the time too.
Does anyone have any suggestions. .
I’d love to verify what these codes are and what I need to do. And if I should be worrying about them. They are getting fixed regardless. But idk what I should expect price wise for parts.

Also got code P1689 no communication toinjection pump from ECM. Still runs good. I have read that crank sensor and or map sensor or fuel filter have solved this code. Anyone ? I’m doing fuel filter crank sensor and map sensor today along with an oil change. This is my daily driver / work truck. I depend on this truck to make my money so it has to be 110%. Any help would be wonderful

I dont know what that code is.

This code is for "Map Sensor Voltage Too Low". This could be a failing MAP or there's an issue with the COMP.

I dont know what you're feeling but I dont think I've heard anyone describe a "shudder". Are you sure you're not feeling what would be better described as a miss or flat spot in the throttle? If so then it could be the APPS rheostat. Something you can confirm with a multi-meter.
Valve adjustment will have nothing to do with this and if there was a fuel pressure problem then you should know by what your gauge is telling you. Injector cleaner is a waste of time and I dont use fuel cleaners in diesels since it only reduces the lubricity of the fuel. NOT what you want.

This code is "No Communication Between ECM and Injection Pump Module" which could be again, from a bad COMP or it could be a loose connection or a corroded connection. Its a good idea to make sure all your major electrical connections and battery cables and grounds are tight and free from corrosion. If they're not then it can easily create electrical anomalies.
The same goes for AC voltage generated by the alternator. If the AC voltage is above .05 then it can easily affect neighboring electronics like the ECM, PCM, APPS, PSG, and trans solenoid. You can also check that with a multi-meter.

All that said, what you should do above all is first disconnect the COMP, clear all codes (get a code reader capable of doing so) and then see if the truck acts different (besides the lack of power) and if the codes come back. Be careful though because if the wastegate has a boost elbow and you're hard on the throttle then you can create an overboost code throwing the engine into limp mode. So just take it easy while the COMP is not connected.
