Gents:



I just replaced the lift pump less than 200 miles ago.

The connector to the pump was loose and when we jiggled it the pump turned back on. However I put the new pump in and used the old as back up.



Check engine light came on today:

These are the codes:



P0514 Battery Temperature Sensor Performance / Rationality

P0628 Fuel Pump Relay Circuit Low, or Fuel Lift Pump Control Circuit Low



Questions:

a) Are these issue related?

b) Is it common for the connector to the back of the pump to be loose?

c) What is does a P0514 code mean in laymens terms?

d) What is a good way to fix the loose connector if thats the problem?

e) Anyway to know if it was just the loose connector besides jiggling/testing?

battery temp is actually a code that was in many trucks there is an update for it, as far as the other code it was most likely from the loose connector, keep driving and see if the light goes out, most likely it will
 
Might help a little

That 0514 code is really common - my 04. 5 threw it all the time before my last reflash. I'm certainly no expert, from what I've read it just means that based on the operating temperature, the sensed battery charge isn't in a specified range. But this can happen under low (< 60) ambient temps when you just have the lights on and the fuel pre-heaters are running. I didn't think it was a big deal.



I agree, the 0628 was probably caused by the loose wires. I just went through the whole disaster of having the filter mounted pump dying and getting the '05 in-tank kit installed after experiencing some dead pedal. Luckily, my replacement CP3 was able to draw enough fuel to get me to the dealer for a warranty replacement.



I'd either borrow a buddy's OBD-II tool and clear it and check it after a few rides, or keep an eye on it to make sure it clears itself. If it doesn't, change the pump - even after 200 miles.
