Happy Holidays everyone.
Okay, I’ve searched and apparently this is a common issue but I was overwhelmed by the information and would appreciate some specific advice.
I have a 2004. 5 2500 2WD truck with about 123,000 miles. I’ve had it for about 6 months.
I was heading to a Christmas gathering with the cruise on at about 65 mph and all of a sudden the truck surged then the accelerator pedal was unresponsive. There were no issues on the 25 mile drive home. I pulled the OBDII codes this morning and I’m getting P2121 and P2123, which has something to do with the throttle positioning Sensor or I see sometimes it’s called an accelerator pedal position sensor.
What do I need to do to fix this? Just replace the TPS / APPS? If so what is the part number for a 2004. 5?
Could it be something else? I’ve read there were common electrical shorts, could this be causing it?
Thanks for the help as I don’t think it’s best for me to drive it due to the surging so I’d like to be able to fix it quick.
