Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) trouble codes

i have p-1698 manufactures control code what does this mean i cannot find a manufactures control in my manual

after doing some more checking i found i have a bus failure what is abus and what do i do to correct it

This is the ECM (Engine Control Module) saying it's lost communication with the vehicle's communication network. Specifically it can't "talk" to the PCM (Powertrain Control Module).



Causes could be a break in the communication network wiring or a faulty PCM.

I should add that if you were to simply disconnect the PCM and turn on the vehicle's ignition system, you'd cause this trouble code to be set in the ECM.
