I have a 92 4wd truck. Ever since I bought it I have had trouble with fuel spitting back out of the filler neck unless I fill it slowly.

I recently installed a FASS system. And now it is worse than before. Would it help to install a vent line in the top of the Tank?

I never go to the big trucker pumps with the big nozzel's.

I usually don't have a problem on the 2 or 3 notch of the regular car style nozzel.

I wonder if yours has a screen in the neck that is partialy clogged?

Sounds like a pain not to mention the mess!

I hate how the diesel always bubbles so much and it takes forever to fill the tank all the way.

Is there anything that can be done for that?

I believe our trucks do have a vent tube yours must be pluged. I'd have to go out and look but I think we have a vent tube it goes from the tank to the top of the fill.

if the anti-siphon ball hasn't been removed, it takes forever to fill...

I couldn't believe the difference it made on my '91... I couldn't even run the truck pumps on the first notch!! after that it was no sweat... even some automotive pumps would kick off sometimes!

Forest,

I can run the first notch all the way to pump shutting off, on the auto diesel pump only. Forget the big hose pumps. After that, it takes about as long to fully top off, as it did to fill up to shut off. Does it sound like mine has this anti-siphon ball? Please elaborate on it, and how to remove.

Thanks!

Oh yeah. My 90 was the same way.

Ron . . some of the tanks were shipped with a cap on the vent . . look on the top of the tank. . where all the fittings go in the tank. . look for a red line cap on one of the fittings. . remove and see what happens. .

this was a second gen. issue but might also be on yours

Phil,

definately sounds like you've got the ball in there... pull the filler neck off and you'll see it in there... there's a little plastic ball in there that you can just push out and cast away...

you'll LOVE how much quicker you can fill the truck up!!!!!!

Forrest

Guess mine dont have the ball

I can put the big rig nozzles on high, and fill up in under 3 mintues. :D doesnt splash out, but it will foam up pretty well.

CB- foaming is just part of diesel fuel. The fuel at my boss's farm (ON road fuel) doesnt foam much; the stuff where I normally get it foams pretty good (bad?) Not sure what causes it.
