Hello,

I have run out of diesel on my driveway, which is on a slope, the truck is pointed downhill. I put in 5 gallons of diesel, and have bled each injector. I can get it to start but as soon as I push on the pedal, it dies, then won't start again until after I bled another injector.

I decided to give it 20 minutes to cool down, while I write this.

Should I be bleeding the injectors in a specific order?

Or?

This is the third time that I have run out of fuel, the first two times, I did what I'm doing now, and it started well.

Thanks,

Chris

Helo again,

I put in another five gallons, bled one injector, and its drinking fine once again. I geuss that because of the slope, the first five gallons was not enough.

Some comments/observations for your consideration.

If you can include details of your truck (model/year/type/stock/modified/goodies? etc) in a signature file, you will get a more informed and specific response to this and subsequent questions/topics. :)

The Bosch VP44 fuelpump also relies upon a continuous and adequate supply of diesel for lubrication purposes, based upon the quantity of fuel available, the (in)efficiency  of the factory liftpump. When this is compromised, you risk potential damage to fuel pump itself (read expensive!).

The first golden rule of thumb with diesel engines is never ever, ever let them run out of fuel if at all humanly possible. The second one is always make sure you never accidentally fill up with gas rather than diesel ( read even more expensive). It's well worthwhile getting your hands on a factory service manual for your year and model - its around US$120 plus P&P last time I checked.
