Would running vegetable oil cause any problems along the lines of injectors, fuel pump, etc... ? Of course after straining it and all that good stuff. Also would it hurt performance or anything. Thanks, Alex

Technically, you could burn the WVO in your truck -- but I wouldn't. There are lots of combustion by-products that may create problems with deposits. That said, there ae probably LOTS of people out there who have done the WVO conversion thing and have no trouble. I just wouldn't do it in my truck. If I do anything, I'll go to the trouble of cracking the WVO into biodiesel -- which is really a good fuel when you do it right. If you saw the glop that the refining process pulls out of WVO, you might think twice about running it through your Cummins . . .

Yep, have to agree with Dave here. There are commercially availible biodiesel fuels that you can pump right into your truck. These are often found at truck stop stations in farm country. Some big cities have caught on, too, and have fueling stations with biodiesel pumps at varying blends. And, you can make a transesterification still yourself for a reasonable investment; which, I believe, is what Dave was referring to by cracking the wvo.

I've not heard of any problems with the engine, fuel lines, or injection pump due to biodiesel fuel use; but some think it is hazardous to the seals in the injection pump. Should be good for your injector lines and injectors, though. Definitely keep it away from your paint (if you have any left :D). Although I've not checked, I'm sure you can find out more in the "alternative fuels" forum.
