Anyone have a way to test the Autometer transmission Temp gauge? I just hooked mine up and it wont move past 100. Drove 35 miles at 70mph and it didnt look like it even moved. Checked and double checked connections couldnt find anything. Does thread sealing tape on the sending unit affect conductivity? I have the sensor mounted in the pan:confused:

Believe it or not the transmission -pan temp is prob well below 100deg on the highway locked up in the cold.

Mine today was saying 75deg. {I have a digital that starts at 0}

I hightly reccomend you calling DTT and talking to one of the techs Vinnie.

When I put my Autometer transmission gauge in, I also was having problems. Vinnie was telling me that he has seen several Autometer transmission gauges in which the wiring labels on the back of the gauge were incorrect. He may have some more info on this.

I'll shoot Vinnie and e-mail and see if I can get more specifics.

Hope this helps.

If you don't have a proper ground running from near the sender to the back of the guage, you will get erroneous readings. . I used 18 guage wire for the trans temp guage

Trans Temp Light

My 99 has a transmission over temp (idiot) light.

Just wondering if anyone knows what the trans temp is when this light activates??

265 on my '94.

If you have the temp sender in the pan, that might be all you get. A better spot is in the trans line from the trans to the block mounted cooler.

FWIW, I've had my sender installed in the pan, the test port suggested by a trans shop and the line out to the cooler.

Been really busy

Sorry guys, didnt mean to post and then leave, been so busy field work time is here.

BILLUA: How close to the sending unit does the ground have to be? I have all three gauges grounded togther (for the lighting and the ground for the temp gauge) under the dash on the support.

Bandit: Everything was wired with 12 ga. wire

Juiced: man with cool temps like that you'd think the factory transmission would last forever:D

Dawg: pulling power from the switched side of the radio fuse

K: keep us posted to what vinnie has to say. I just talked to him the other day about where to mount the sender cause of the factory sender for the OD is in the line on the 95s

Thanks for all the help, gonna go double check my ground. Could be just the cold temps was only in the 40's lately
