Turbo cool-down timers (choices?)

It's that time of year again (tax refunds) Oo.

I'm interested in turbo cool-down timers, but have only found 2 (the one from Geno's & someone from DTR).

Does anyone have any experiance with these? Is the cheapre of the two good, or is the one from Geno's really worth almost 3 times the cost?

Also, do either of these work with the factory alarm?

Any/all info will be greatly appreciated.

TIA,

George

George, get an auto start and alarm installed. Most have turbo timers built in now. You should be able to get something installed for around $400. 00.

TMTT and a few others have one around here and they work great. I'm getting one installed next month.

I had the Avistar 4100 installed just a week ago. I has keyless entry, remote start, and turbo timer. It cost me $262. 89 total. You can program the timer for 1, 3, 5, or 12 minutes of run time. I know the 1 and 3 minutes are right but the 5 and 12 are estimates, I can't remember the exact minutes. It does not come with an alarm.

I went this route because my truck did not have keyless entry on it.

Hope it helps.

I was looking at turbo timers as well but have decided to replace my Code Alarm Sure Start LX (alarm/remote starter) with a Viper 560 or 791. It is hard to be the features of the new alarms in one convienient package.

ISSPro also makes a turbo timer (although that is a misnomer in this case) called the Turbo Temp Monitor (TTM). It connects to a pyrometer probe (preferably post-turbo, as opposed to where you want your gauges, but mine is currently pre-turbo), and keeps the engine running until the pyro comes down to a safe (adjustable) temp level set on the unit. With mine set at ~200* pre-turbo, it will typically keep the engine running anywhere from a few seconds to maybe 30 or so just running around town; longer if I've been out on the highway pulling a trailer.

Dad has the Isspro turbo-timer doo-hickey. It has worked flawlessly...

He didn't have a manual override switch at first (he does now... )... . but this is a VERY important feature to install.

George, waht the heck do you need a cool down timer for?! Just keep your butt planted in the seat for a couple of minutes when you stop.

Matt's right, the override switch is a necessity with the TTM.

I just installed my TST PMCR this morning, and I'm seeing different readings on the digital gauge than on the analog at shutdown--more like 285* on the digital, vs. 200 on the analog (granted, I now have all three hooked up to the same probe, not the ideal situation, so I don't necessarily trust those as absolute values, but there is definitely a difference between the two).

Thanks for the info guys... ... ..... looks like the better deal is a remote start with turbo cool-down option!

Jeff, just starting to get lazy, waiting :)
