A couple weeks ago my truck acted up on me and I'm not sure why I've been out of town since then so I haven't had a chance to see if it will do it again. Every time it acted up its been during acceleration from a stop. The first time the truck was accelerating fine and then I shifted into 5th and the engine stopped accelerating in fact it was like the engine was no longer receiving the signal from the throttle. I couldn't rev the engine up by pressing the throttle and it didn't seem to fall off either just hold the same speed so I down shifted back to fourth and the engine rev'd up do to being placed in the lower gear. It also would accelerate again so I went back up to 5th and on to 6th with no more problems. It did this same thing 2 other times during the day so I added some centane booster and fuel additive to the tank incase I had just gotten some bad fuel as I had just fueled up the day before.

This all happened the day before my wedding so needless to say I've looked at nothing. I drove the truck for the fist time since the wedding yesterday and it never acted up. So I guess my question is has anyone else had this problem? Was it maybe bad fuel? Do I have a bigger problem lurking around the corner? Any thought or help would be great.

What's your fuel supply pressure (you DO have gauges, right??)

If the fuel supply pressure is OK, the first thing to do is to check for codes. Turn the key on and off 3 times, leaving it on in the run position the 3rd time. Watch what comes up in the odometer window.

It could be the APPS (accelerator pedal position sensor). It also could be the beginning of the end for the VP-44.

No guages yet. these are the codes pulled pcu= p-0500 (Which is no Speed sensor if I read my book correctly) P-1693 (which again if I read my book correctly means a code was set in both modules) ECU= P-1693 (again) and P-0216 (which my manual shows as a fuel injection pump timming error). Any thoughts?

Do a search on P-0216, not good!!!! SNOKING

sounds like the pump is going bad to me. My 02 did the same thing so i had the dealer put a pump on it. Runs great now. hope this helps.

I've got an 01 truck with the po216 code as well. The truck is hard starting in the mornings (getting worse) and runs crappy for the first few miles, and all of a sudden takes off (after idling to warm up of course). Temps here have been subzero (-20) but as far as I know no gelling problem. Ran gel additives with no result. Fuel pressure at idle after filter is 13-14 range. Cruise 10-11. wot 8-9. All seem ok to me, but I was wondering if volume could be the culprit. What is a good spec to go by for volume of a normal operating lp? One other question... how hard is it to change the injection pump? Sounds like this is where I'm headed.

Get gauges pyro and fuel pressure at least if you want boost go for it but not as important and if your truck is under 100k make the dealer fix it its under warranty
