I was driving along, hit the go pedal hard, truck went then engine died. I can get it started, but it acts as if its running on less than all 6 cylinders. When it runs, there is no throttle response. It runs about 300rpm and really rough, no matter how much you push on the throttle. I have changed the fuel filter just a short time ago. The volts gauge shows only about 10v when it's barely running. Odometer shows code of P1693. Truck only has 68,800 miles on it. It's a 2001 ETH 4x4 6-speed and all stock. It has run flawless up to now.

I'm counting on the TDR community for some help here!

Mike,

Assuming you have good fuel pressure and the fuel filter isn't plugged (doesn't sound like it is), then it sure sounds like the VP44 fuel injection pump just gave out on you.

That 10 volt alternator output sounds reasonable at 300 engine rpm... nothing to worry about in and of itself.

A long shot suggestion: Did you check the air filter (clean or replace)?

Do you have any sort of performance tuner installed? Is there anything like that you can try disconnecting?

Good luck,

John L.

P1693 Generic fault indicating a fault in the bus or PCM/ECM interface . Hope this helps

One more time... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... .

1693 simply is telling you that you have a dtc in the companion module. The pcm and ecm share some inputs to function. you have only looked in one module,go look in the other.
