Pulled over by Illinois State for speeding

For those of you with truck campers, what sort of ladder are you using to get in and out of the over cab bed? We have an Outfitter and have been stepping on the counter but with our age, we need a more secure method. Suggestions would be appreciated.

I fell while getting out of the bed once, into the cat box! Mine became for sale as soon as I got home! My solution was to get a Host camper, the floor is bed rail height, so the bed is not far above the floor! Sure made truck camping enjoyable for us.

I was chatting with a guy that had an Apex a few months ago and he had what appeared to be a built in ladder - looked like those kind you used to see in libraries. I thought he said it came from Outfitter - you might ask them if they sell one.

Ladder? I have a platform about 18" off the deck and just right to sit on the bed. It also covers the fresh water tank. It also doubles as a seat. I thought that was typical of campers.

My Lance has sort of a series of built in steps, one is a seat the other acts as a arm rest or some thing like that, there is no dedicated ladder, that would be hard on the feet with no shoes on.

That's the way my Lance (sold in 08) was. Carpet over the water tank, which server as a seat with light padding, and a outrigged step midway to get onto the bed. Very safe, very easy. It also had a pull out step at the floor level for those that needed an extra step to get onto the top of the water tank seat, which my wife and I never used. A grab handle was also provided.

It's amazing the level of engineering that Lance and some other truck camper manufactures puts into the design of their campers. I must say that some truck camper manufactures have very little or poor engineering design in their campers, as we all know.
