Truck cap 3rd to 4 th gen.

Will my Fiberglass truck cap for my 2005 fit on a 4th gen. Truck? I am assuming I will end up with another long bed.

You could check with a canopy dealer. I would think not, most are year & make specific. Also would you try to match a new truck color to cap color of a cap that may not look right? I traded my 2005 (white color) with the canopy because I was sure it would not look too good on a silver truck even if it fit.

I think only the rear window/tailgate are different.
I have an 09 truck and my brother has a 12' truck. We have the same brand of truck caps with only the rear window frame made slightly different otherwise they seem to be exactly the same.

I went to the companies webpage and looked up the present truck and the cap number, then did the same for the newer truck and found out if the numbers were the same or not and went from there. Now this was a few years ago and it did fit, not sure what you find now. As for the color, a light sand and a quality paint will match any new truck.

I put the cap from my 99 on my 13. I had to raise it slightly with 1/2 inch plywood strips which I painted black and they are not noticeable. I removed the plastic trim piece from the top of the tailgate and replaced it with a piece of rubber roofing so the back door would not hit the tailgate. IF I had not raised it and removed the trim I would have had problems with the rear door on the cap being too low. The shape of the cap was ok, just the height problem
