Truck Cap Shopping

I need some suggestions for my new truck cap. My last 2 trucks have both had A. R. E. caps, and I have had no complaints. However, the price on them has skyrocketed in the last 4 years, around $1200 now so I am looking for new company.



So what do you think? Leer? Century? The Leers are around the same price, but the base model Leer looks better than the base model ARE. Also, I'm only looking at the cab high models so my Kargomaster ladder rack won't be too high in the air.

I'm very happy with my A. R. E. , and yes the prices have gone out of site.

I like my ARE and bought it 1 1/2 years ago for 1150 buckaroonies. Helluva price, but it was what I wanted. I didn't like the Leers and they were just as much $$$ out here in AZ .

I think all the prices have skyrocketed.

I have a Century and really like it. The price was a little less than the ARE but I would spend the little extra and get the ARE.

The ARE has a great reputation and better quality standards in MHO.

If I did it again I would get the ARE then the Century.

Any brands that have the gasket between cap and cab instead of a window? I'm looking for a cap for my 03.

Thank you for the feedback. You are pretty much validating what I was thinking about getting an ARE.



Both Leer and ARE have an optional boot that goes between the cap and truck, but they have the sliding window as well. You could probably have them leave out the window.

I have been happy with my Jeraco too. I have the Standard Deluxe model that is raised-roof, but just slightly, about 4" (no funky windows). My KM rack looks and rides fine with that height.

After much research I went with a Raider canopy and I'm glad I did. Price was right, quality excellent, color and fit perfect. I'd buy another.

I also went with the Raider Rebel cap. It's stronger than the others. The reinforced option with the removable utility roof rack is a nice package.
