For the second time in a month my truck has shifted out of overdrive while I have been passing someone with the truck at WOT.

I wait for it to shift into overdrive and it dosent, I notice that my light is on on the O/D off switch. Is this a TPS issue or a temp. sensor. The truck is unloaded and it's only 60degrees here. I dont know where to start. Once I push the O/D button everything goes back to normal.

I have changed to a synthetic ATF, but I cant see that being the problem. .

Thanks

Kurt

I'm no expert and have limited experience in this area but I did work on an old '93 that would not stay in OD. I took the TPS apart, cleaned it, put it back on and adjusted the voltage. After doing this it was much better although still not perfect. It was still a little tricky getting into OD to start with but once it was in it would stay and not jump in and out like before.

My Problem seems to be on the electrical side of things. It's acting like I'm pushing the O/D off button so I dont know if the cable would be the culprit.

I'm also thinking it might have something to do with changing lanes fast and punching it at the same time, maybe the trans fluid is sloshing violently in the trans pan and that's affecting some sensor, I dont know

My old truck -a 95 2500- would do that. I cleaned all the connectors at the trans and wire tied the wires up out of the wind and it went away.

If the OD light comes on, it isn't going to go to OD without pushing the button.

This was a common issue with the 95 models.
