OK, the wife says I have to get my truck out of the garage so she can start putting her car in there. I don't have any outside covered storage and the truck sits in the elements. What is the best cover to get to keep the truck protected? Is there any problems with the covers rubbing the paint? Any other things I need to consider?

How do they keep from building water in the bed area of the cover?- is there a drain hole there so the water can drain out?

Any help is appreciated. :)

I use the cab cover from Dodge. It was about $180. 00 through Mopar4Less. Obviously, it won’t help the cargo area, so I put a Leer bed cover over on it. The bed cover looks good and the cab cover works well. The only problem at first was that I have the PowerVision mirrors and the cover fit too tight and I tore the cover a little getting it off at first. Then I discovered that if I moved the mirrors forward that the cover came off fine. The cover is made out of what appears to be a heavy paper/cloth material that is very tough. I haven’t had a problem with scratches. I use it mainly to protect the interior of the cab in hot sunny weather.

I finally got around to buying one for the RAM last week from Big Sky (800-221-4875). I had one on the Dakota for 3 years with no paint problems. My truck sits periodically out in a pole barn at my daughter's farm. The cover I just bought has a 4 yr warrenty. It's called WeatherShield, I think. It fit very well yesterday when I put it on for the first time. They claim it's completely waterproof and it was very light and easily packed in a bag. I think this one is better than the one I have for my Prelude, which is a thicker cloth, kind of like cotton. A light, close fitting, waterproof unit is the ticket!

paccool,

Two of the guys I work with use Weathershield covers on their cars - M-B E55, Porsche 356, '34 Ford, '88 Suburan etc. The Suburban sits outside year round and looks brand new. They are getting ~4 years out of a cover. One guy lives in Windsor, the other in Rincon Valley.

Griot's Garage looks to have the best value - lifetime guarantee on the material. The factory only guarantees the material for 4 years but Griot's has their own 100% satisfaction guarantee - said they will replace the cover when it wears out. I think Griot's is ~$75 more than Ca Car Covers but with the lifetime guarantee it's a better deal. I think Griot's price is ~$275 but I'll have to check my notes tomorrow to be sure.
