I was driving my truck Friday at about 45 mph. There was a pop and the truck died. I did the self diagnostics and received the following codes 1689, 1693, 0320, 0341,0230, 0219. The codes indicate various things including crankshaft position sensor (code controled by the camshaft position sensor), overspeed ?, no communication from fuel pump to ecm, bad lift pump circuit, etc... I have changed the cam position sensor, swapped out the lift pump, inspected the electrial fuses, grounds, cables, etc... The truck will start for a moment and shut down. Does anyone have any ideas?

I'd start by cleaning the connectors at the ECM & PCM. Look carefully for signs of corrosion or tracing. Inspect the PDM for loose input connections. Make sure all you grounds are secure.

Have you done any recent electrical work on the truck?

Try bumping the starter to see if the LP runs for 20 seconds or so, you may have lost a capacitor in your ECM and are loosing your 5Vdc control voltage.

Good luck and let us know how what you find. Mike

If you check the ECM and PCM connectors like Mike said and it still won't run, with all those codes, I'd be tempted to think the ECM might have failed!

Good luck,

John L.

The LP runs as advertized now. Initially it did not. The connections look good.
OK... so the lift pump operates as it's supposed to, but the truck still dies immediately after starting? Is this correct?

Have you cleared the DTC's to see which one's come back after an attempted start?

When you activate the lift pump, what s the fuel pressure at VP44 inlet?

Regards,

John L.

The truck is still dead. I've cleared the codes but no joy. My fuel pressure is 21 at the injection pump. I just went and bought a rebuilt VP-44, I haven't installed it yet, the old one definitely was bad. I hope that is all. .

The truck is fixed:) It was another bad VP-44. Evidentily, the one of the pistons inside froze up and caused an issue with the electronics.
