Truck delema... Need help deciding...

As most know I have an 05 on order with the sun roof option; today we had 2 04 come in almost identical to what I ordered with the exception that it does not have the sun roof (no biggie) but more importantly it does not have the heated seats. What do you all think I should do wait or take this one; the biggest reason I even ask myself this is the 04 has a ton of rebate money availble and the 05 will not. Anyone have aftermarket heated seat additions that have any time on them???

Do you really need the heated seats? San Jose does not get that cold that I would need them.

if you wanted the heated seats that bad, geno's sells a kit just for that reason

it is not San Jose that gets cols it is Colorado and the Sierras that get cold... I may not do it anyhow just found out it does not have the side impact airbags...

I'd say, if you're going to spend this much $$$ on a truck that you'll have to get in for a number of years, wait for the one you really want. You'll be glad you did. A sunroof is something I personally would kick myself for passing up, had I had the option when I got my truck. Don't set yourself up for regrets, wait for the one you know you want.

I get it now! That's why I ordered the heated seats. Not for me, but for the wife. She has family in SJ but we live in Reno.



I just ordered my '05 this morning. I was told you cannot get the sunroof and have the side airbags. Probably because there isn't enough room in the overhead for the system. I opted for the sunroof.

Do you know that as a FACT? While the rebate on the '04 might be greater, it wouldn't surpise me to see some kind of rebate on the '05s, just because Dodge has been pushing their truck line so hard lately... guess we'll know soon enough. <fingers crossed>

I'd buy the truck, because those are options I don't want.

I, personally, will never have a factory sun/moonroof. They take a lot of headroom away, which for me usually means head-rubbing, or even bent neck (I end up tilting the seat way back to clear). Also, a much greater chance of leaks, vs. a solid panel. Also, I find them to make the interior hotter, with the sun beating thru.



Heated seats, in California??? Unless you're north, are they really necessary? I didn't even think they're necessary here in Michigan - just one more thing to break.

The Sunroof option with the side impact airbags is only not availble on the 1500's your salesman did not know what he was ordering... I have had the heated seats in my current truck and will have them on my next; not a matter of necessity but spending $40k on a truck and not getting all the options you want. As far as the sunroof leaking, I have talked with every tech here at the dealership[ and not one has had a complaint about a sunroof in 5 years since they started using the newer up to date style sunroofs.

FWIW...

My brother-in-law had a Dodge Neon with a sunroof. It did not leak if I remember correctly, but he had problems more than once with not being able to open / close it (power problems that the dealer could not solve).



On the sun beating down... in some of the nicer cars that have sunroofs, there is an interior cover that you can slide open and closed and matches the headliner. The ones I have seen work really well for blocking out the really hot sun when the are closed. Leave the cover open when parked in the hot sun and it really adds to the toasty factor.



They are nice, but I will never had one. Too much potential for problems with nothing but dressing. JMO.

I think that you should wait for the one you really want, thats what i am going to have to do. I am going to my dealer in the morning and going to order an 05, does anyone know the estimated arrival of the 05?

I had an 85 Olds with sunroof and it was the only thing on the car that didn't leak! Even that old rat had a slider to keep the sun out by choice. Should be a nice touch to the RAM. IMO Doc
