I was pulling out on a busy road and ran it pretty hard,,the motor quit and wont start. It turns over and pusher pumps are cycling, wont even try to fire. Any suggestion would be appreciated :{

It is very possible that the injection pump rotor seized internally and has failed. crack a couple fuel lines loose and see if you are getting any fuel during cranking.

Get a service station to put a scanner on the truck. I'll bet you find a P0216 code stored. Next step is to open the wallet for a big withdrawal for a reman VP44.

I'm in the same situation now.

Sounds like an injector pump to me. I just had the same thing happen about a month ago. I was driving home from work and the truck just died. Only code it threw was p1693( i think). I decided to replace it with a hot rod vp 44 and I'm very happy with it also installed a Fass at the same time it all works great. Sorry to hear of you bad luck.

crack the lines

with the mods you have done to your truck i really do not think that the vp would have died on you that suddenly. this happens to me regurlarly, just break loose 3 lines, cycle the pump a few times, crank it a bit, and by then you should have fuel then she should fire right up

thanks all for the input,,,I going to try to get it home and crack the lines,,would a faulty crank senser do this?

Try bleeding the filter housing or you could spray cold water on the injection pump. If the diaphram or diaphram seals are broken these two operations some times will allow the engine to start and possibly get you home. But it would also mean that the VP44 is bad and you will need a replacement. We do have them. Thanks

I drove for several weeks with an intermittent faulty crank sensor. The injection pump computer will take over and let you run without it, but you will notice a definate lack of responsiveness to throttle input (it will get you to any speed desired... eventually). Also, if the crank sensor is faulty, it will show up with a tach going to zero, as the tach keys off this signal.

Got my truck back this evening with a new Blue Chip enhanced pump. Smooth as silk!

Good Luck!

At the risk of me starting a rant... I think it's the ole' VP44. My truck did the same thing. Pulling out from a stop sign onto a busy road, Spooling up smooth till about 35 MPH, and then nothing... Costed onto another side street, cycled the key three times, and got a Po 1693 code and nothing else  After getting a tow home, changed the Crank Position Sensor, still no run. Towed it over to the Diesel Guru, who pluged in the Laptop, and came up with a Bad VP44, due to a "Seized Rotor". :{ $1500. 00 and a week later she was back on the road again. Oo. :D :-laf Moose00

That is exactly what mine did, same code and everything, I was able to get it started and go about 500 more feet. It haden't been running bad or anything. Seems like most say they could tell it was about to go, mine just went.

I don't think a bad crank sensor would cause it to die, but can definately cause it not to start. Probably not you're problem.

I cracked the line at the injectors 1 and 3 and got fuel dribbling out,,cycled the lift pump,,still no start,,got it haul to the shop ,,looks as it might be the VP

hi again,,Yesterday I gor the truck back from the shop,,it was the VP,,$1600. 00 ,ouch, today it was hesitating at about 1500 rpm and check engine light came on,,codes P 0122 and P 1693, I guess the APPS decided to go out with the pump,I tried resetting the APPS ,still hesitates and surges.
