My neighbors truck died on him last night pulling his travel trailer over Washington pass. It died, he coasted to the side of the road, and it lit off again so he could move to a safer place. He tried to swap out the fuel filter hoping that is what it was but damaged the o ring to the point he couldn't use it, so had the whole thing towed home (!). I'm a 12 valve guy myself, but off the top of my head I said lift pump. Anyone have any ideas where else to look? He hasn't had a chance to look too close at it yet. He is a member, but has no internet access. Thanks for any ideas.

Start by getting the fuel filter back in service. If the lift pump will prime it, then it may be ok, really need to check the pressure output to tell if it's bad. May have just run out of fuel because of clogged fuel filter?? bg

Well, he put a new filter in and the pump primed it up very fast. It still cranks well, but not a hint of lighing off. I guess I need to do a search on here to figure out how to get any codes that may be set. At this point it could be anything. If you have any ideas, feel free to throw them my way. Thanks.

Do you have fuel at the injectors, when you crack the injector lines loose,You may sucked air into the injection pump. To bleed any trapped air crack loose 1 and 3 injectors,Hold throttle to floor when cranking, this will also tell you if fuel is getting to the injectors.

Loosen the banjo fitting going into the VP, do the prime routine, bump starter, leave ign. on, when you get fuel to there, tighten the fitting and loosen at least three of the lines about 3/4 turn where they go into the injector on the cylinder head, now turn the engine a few times and watch the line at the injector for fuel, when it gets there, tighten the line (18 ft. lb. ), it should light up. bg
