I'm hoping that someone close will read this and just happen to have a Fleetgaurd FS-1023 Water Separator handy or know where I can pick one up locally on a Sunday.

No Fuel Pressure! Had the truck towed to our RV Park. We have to be out by 1/1/14!

Fuel Supply is a FASS with Filter and Water separator.
First thing I did was change the Fuel Filter but no help
I've verified that the pump is running
Pulled the Water Separator and it looked pretty bad. Tried cleaning it but no help.
Looked everywhere for a replacement Water Separator but can't find one that's an exact match (Fleetgaurd FS-1023) Which is a 144 Micron Filter.
Found a 10 Micron and installed it. Pressure came back to 12 PSI at idle but... once I get it on the road and run through the gears the pressure slowly drops to 0. Let idle and it slowly comes back to 11-12. I'm thinking the 10 micron W/S Filter is too restrictive and can't pull enough fuel to keep up with the engine demand.

Does anyone know if you can put a 10 micro W/S filter on the FASS pump???

No direct experience with FASS but I see no reason why 10 micron is too restrictive unless of course it is doing its job. Have you cheched the 10 micron to see if it is clean or plugged up? I suspect you have a tankful of contaminate fuel.

Cliff, all I have is the 3 micron long filter but I'm in Albuquerque so no help. If you plugged the water separator/pre-filter, you may have a load of bad fuel that will plug another filter quickly. Geno's doesn't list it but you cal call them tomorrow, 800-755-1715; they carry FASS systems. Or call Cummins Rocky Mountain in Avondale (west side of Phoenix off I-10; you are on the southeast side of Phoenix) 623-474-2600.

Please keep in mind that the OEM W/S is a 144 micron. I'm thinking there a reason for that. Thanks for your response.

Thanks Joe!

Cummins Rocky Mountain has a small satellite shop in Mesa just off US60 and Mesa Dr. Address:

Is it cold enough you could be plugging the filter?

The FS1023 is no longer a recommended filter, it's actually not a f/w separator. Per Fleetguard it's rated at 0% water removal, drain on the bottom is for debris and not water.

Run a Baldwin BF1212, any truck shop should carry one. The pump shouldn't care if you run the 20um BF1212.

If you have a 3 micron main you should be able to have 3 micron water Seperator in theory. You probably won't find a 3 micron seperator because there job is to seperate not filter. I'd agree with a bad tank of fuel, somthing is clogging your filters and it's not the extra 141 microns of filtration

i run FS1065 on my fass 150 thats a 10 micron filter,it runs 15psi constant change filter when there is a pressure drop, and the filter has a wif sensor

At May Madness we heard that the tight filters aren't good at stripping water, and of course the looser ones aren't good enough for a final filter to remove particulates.

It is lot more likely your FASS has gone tango uniform, the symptoms suggest that more than a restrictive filter.

Verify the quality of your current tank of fuel, if it passes muster, then I would agree with the FASS pump failing.

Hello everyone and thanks so much for your response. I looked on the FASS website and found a trouble shooting guide which included the "Bucket Test" This test simply eliminates everything in the system except the FASS Pump. Pump passed the "Bucket Test". We then reconnected the feed line and left the supply line (line to the injector pump) in the bucket. The fuel flow is very low. That told us the issue was in the tank. We applied 25 lbs of compressed are to the supply line, at first there was back pressure the shortly there after we could hear something give away and was able put are into the tank. Hooked all the lines back up and we had our fuel pressure back! Not sure what was plugging it up but I just replaced the fuel pickup with a Vulcan pickup. We are back on the road. Lets hope what ever it was can wait till I get home! Oh, BTW, Just through a p0252. I was going down hill when it happened. Hoping it was the Edge box and not a real pump failure. :--)

Clear the code and hope is was a glitch. P0252 - VP death code, 1 step troubleshooting tree. Code present - Yes, replace VP44.

Gotta be careful working with the fuel lines. Any debris (including dust that may have been on your fingers) in it and you will cause damage down stream if there are no other filters.

Turned the Edge box off and made it 600 hard pulling miles with NO Pump Codes. On the way Pulled 2 - 6% grades at 60 MPH with my shower head injectors and no box with my 15K land yaht in tow.

Yeah, I've had my Edge throw my truck into limp mode a couple of times. Bad power connection caused it to wreak havoc. I'm also sure I needlessly replaced a VP on my truck because of the EDGE. Bad diagnosis on my part - it did not even occur to me at the time since the symptoms were in step with a normal/most common VP failure.

Glad you made it home without further issue.
