so yeasterday i think the input shaft went on the truck. i was i believe in 3rd at about 2000rpm when i droped the tc lockup switch then ther was a huge bang an no power to the wheels. i then called fred swanson(dtt trans guy in az) and thats what he thought to happened. the only odd thing is that i should be able to put it in park and the truck not move but it stillmoves. so now im thinking its the output shaft. but i dont know. anyone ahve anyaddvice. im hoping its the output shaft bc thats alout cheaper9like the difference between 300 and 4200 dollers 4200 with new billet input shaft) please help i miss my truck already :{

You could of hurt the forward drum. That has happened to before and thats what it was. Hope you find the problem. Keep us informed.

If it rolls in park, it's broke aft of the park gear which would be output shaft or transfer case if it's 4x4. If no other damage is done, it's pretty easy to pull the OD unit and repair. You could be back on the road in a couple of hours.

allright ill admit it im an idiot it was rolling in park b/c the transfer case was in nuetral. after i had the transfer case off i noticed that. i then turned the truck on put it in drive and looked at the output shaft and nothin. yup it was the input shaft. (dam it0 well i guess the stock transmission could only take so much). im haveing fred swanson rebuild my transmission with dtt parts and stuph. and im definetly getting the billet input shaft put in. im also want new steering in the front while im at it. my steering sucks. i had the pump replaced a year ago and that didnt help. im thinking of going to the t-style instead of the y-style that i have now. any suggestions. its just hard to stay inbetween the lines in the road. im wandering everywere and it just doesnt feel strong what soever. im also thinking of putting in a third generation track bar with the dss any sugestions would help alot thanks. . sorry this is so long

I have installed 3rd gen steering components on an 02 in the past. They are much heavier than the 2nd gen parts. I plan on going this route when I have the money. I am currently running 3rd gen lower control arms because of their much better bushing design.

I don't want to go to the T style system. I feel that there is a reason chrysler only used it for a couple of years, and haven't used it on the 3rd gens at all. ;)

ok mines a 97 so its the early 2nd generation and its the y style. when the 98 came out it had the t style till 2002 didnt it? im just needing something better right now. im dropping a new transmission in so i might as well get everything fixed wile im payin for it
