How do I mount the rear clearance/running lights

This morning I parked my '91 and left it idling in park and went next door to get a cup of coffee. While I was getting coffee, the truck jumped out of gear into reverse and backed out from the parking space it was in 180 degrees and backed into a 10 by 10 walkway post at a bed and breakfast place and smashed the post in half. Can't believe that the truck did not take out a few cars, people etc. Even better, no damage to truck thanks to tow hitch receiver! Boy, was I lucky! My linkage bushings are worn and sloppy which I think created this situation. Anyone else experience this problem? I hope not!

WOW! Good thing nobody was hurt!

Reminds me of a story when I was a kid... I was at the drive-in (old guys can remember what those are) with my parents. And we were parked just off to the side of the snack bar. There was this dude with his girlfriend parked directly behind the snack bar and one space ahead of us, they got out of the car to go over to the snack bar when the dudes car started rolling! He tried to open the door, but he had locked it! The car drug him about 20 feet as he tried to prevent the inevitable... . the car plowed into the brick wall of the snack bar!

So back to the topic.....

I know a guy who put a remote start on his 3rd gen 6 speed. He remote started the truck one morning and heard a large crash. He ran out side and found the truck had gone through the closed garage door and pushed his wifes Mercedez out the back wall of the garage.

I was putting guages/stereo in my W350 and had the dash apart, etc so I was moving the shifter around to get dash panels off, so I had the wheel blocked. Getting ready to start it up, I unblocked the wheel, the truck started rolling, luckily my brother was right there, moved his truck while I jumped into mine and narrowly avoided rolling into the side of his truck. While working in the interior, the transfer case lever got kicked into neutral... .

Oh that parking brake ain't got nothing on the Cummins low end grunt. I remember reading a guy left his truck idling in neutral (5sp) with parking brake on and his kid in a car seat kicked the shifter into 1st gear and the truck took off, can't remember how far it went or what it hit:eek:.

Oh man! I love this club :D I'll just turn the 'animal' off  when I get out, no matter what... :-laf

Good to hear no one was hurt.

Patrick.

$ well spent

I just replaced the brakes in my truck and re-built the parking brake. Best money I've spent on it. and It works great all it took was 2 new rear cables into the drums and cleaned an never-seized thhe p-brake assembly I have the 12"x3" brakes in the back. If I put the truck in drive I can't go anywhere!unless I were to stuff the fuel. IT'S HARD TO DO BURN-OUTS ANYMORE, I must have too much braking power I guess. Before I could do a smokey burnout up to overdrive!

1. you don't have to block the wheels when you load heavy equipment (I always think I will tear out the tiny parking spur.

2. you can let the auto trans. idle in neutral (the dodge transmission does not charge the convertor in park)

3. you can pull cool e-brake manuvers in your 3/4 or 1 ton trucks. :-laf ( just jokin)

this just made my list of favorite threads.

when i was about 19 years or so and my parents were finally able to start doing things for themselves since they didn't have to feed and entertain my dumb @ss, they rewarded themselves with a couple brand new vehicles for the first time in their lives.

i was very happy for them.

my ma got herself a nice little subaru 4x4 wagon deally and my pop bought the trucko of his dreams..... a really shiney silverado 4x4 loaded to the teeth.

the next thing they did for themselves was to take a trip to mexico on a love boat for a week.

they asked me to watch the place... ... ... so trusting

ol pop, knowing it would be too difficult to resist, allowed me truck priviledges with the condition that it stays on the pavement... ... . well it didn't.

so, i had to wash it. backed out mom's new subaru to get the silverado close enough to the hose to wash off the mud. got it looking real nice and clean. decided to take it to town for one more ride... ...

..... forgot to mention that i pulled the subaru into the drive behind the silverado.

backed my father's week old dream truck right into my mother's week old sporty little subaru.

it is truly a miracle that i am here to tell the story.

you fools are not alone.

take care, jeff
