I put a thread on a while back when My truck had a vibration or growl when starting off. That progressed to a vibration (severe) and my dealer had to replace all universals on the back shaft + the hanger bearing( they were all toast). Well guess what, the growl is back after only few hundred miles. ??? I can't figure it and nor can the dealer up till now. They ordered in a complete clutch assembly and they want the truck when it shows up. One thing I noticed is that when it first started to come back it only did it after a long drive. now its just more and more severe the further it goes. This morning it was OK to work and back. If I drive more than 20 minutes at highway speed it will growl in 1st ,second and third if I push it. "Diesel man" had suggested re alligning the hangar bearing to the passenger side. This seems to make sense. ... ... ... ... ... . Getting *$%'ssed off.

Your dealer needs to look at the drive shaft and test it... or send it to a good drive shaft shop... .

check for alignment, balance, with a dial indicator and a balancer

it doesn't take much of a ding in a shaft to make it vibrate... .

I've been told that some shafts are either an alloy or fiberglass coated... . I've tested mine with a magnet and its steel and I've not personally have not seen the other... . but

a good friend who owns a drive shaft operation has a whole bin full of either the alloy or fiberglass coated shafts..... he preplaced them with steel and solved the problem... .

hope this helps... .
