Does anyone have experience with the "Truck Edition" engine control module. I have been speaking with a person that has installed one of these units ( plug in ) and says that he is getting 12 to 13 mpg puling a 14,000# fifth wheel and gets 20 mpg driving alone. According to Truck Edition their module does not down load into the existing ECM, but works in conjuction with. The module is supposed to increase HP and mileage and keep the EGT in safe factory range. If you unplug module it is not suppose to leave in tracks in the system. This module sounds to good to be true.

Usually when something sounds to good to be true it is. Do the math. If you gain a mile or two how long is the pay back and what are the consequences? I learned the hard way on my 03. My 2012 is a stronger truck in stock form than my 03 was turned up, the difference being the 2012 was designed to handle the power. I've learned that fuel mileage is of a lesser concern if all other things are good. My 2 cents worth!

There are several things hurting mpg on the 2007. 5 through 2012 models, all related to emissions--timing, regenerations, etc. Cummins fixed those problems with the DEF strategy in 2013. I doubt the box fixes the big issues; maybe increases timing but if that increases, smoke and thus regens may increase. Furthermore, if the box uses the OBD port, it almost has to be a downloader and the Mopar WiTech will track its installation.

Thanks for the input guys. As I suspected, this probably is to good to be true, but this company makes these boxes for all the big rigs and I thought it maybe something to look into.

I will let anyone other than me to the test on a performance box for the 2013. MAYBE when the warrenty is gone. I really cant imagine the truck towing any better than what it already does.

Def light came on and that I needed to add fluid or it would shut down and not start. We went to the dealership and they said it would not shut down. We added the appropriate amount of fluid and continued business. We went out last night to do a police tow and the truck will not start and says to see a dealership. The dealership told us they cannot help us and that they don't know what the problem is. Can you help me?

Mychele 24, I would move your post to Truck "911". Hopefully someone with the knowledge you need will see it and offer some advice. Good Luck

Your
dealer is uninformed. What ever dtc's you have need to be diagnosed then repaired. After that has been done the ecm needs to be overflashed if the message did not go away with the other repairs
