Something moans, squeals, clicks and vibrates at speeds less than 45 mph. I yanked on the drive shaft nothing feels loose, but that doesn't always mean anything. I am thinking center shafter carrier and u joints? I have 108,000 miles on it. Also I jacked up the up the truck from the back and put it in drive and it vibrated, front wheels turn freely and feel ok spinning them by hand.

did you happen to watch the driveshaft going around when you had it jacked up? I had bent my driveshaft on an old chevy gasser once by going off road to haul firewood and didn't realize what I did until I had a shop look at it and straighten the shaft. I really wouldn't think it was the center carrier bearing as mine is going out also and causes no problems like you state, but then again yours may be worse than mine. Another thing may be that your u joints have dried up all the grease they come factory with, to me this explains the click and moaning you describe. I would change out the factory shocks also if you haven't done so yet. I know it is sometimes a real pain to locate driveline issues but I would start replacing the cheaper things first and see if it helps. Wish I could be of more help. Chris

The carrier bearing normally starts at about those speeds.

May be time to change the fluid in the rear diff, and make sure you put some limited slip additive in it. If the clutches in the rear have glazed, it can do the same thing. Just change the fluid and put some additive in it, and find a place to make about 20 figure eights (equal amounts both ways) to work the new stuff into the clutches.

Driveshaft didn't appear to be out of round. I do not have posi, just one wheel peel. I need to change the axle fluid anyway. I noticed today when I changed from reverse to drive while sitting still, click.

How many miles on your Cooper's? Mine have 40K and started cupping at 35K, then I put in new ball joints, track bar etc... I put the cupped Cooper's on the back and they make the back end jump around when empty around 45 to 50 mph. Just a thought... . Bill

The coopers are gone for these junk Toyos. I started getting stress cracks around 50,000, didn't cup yet... just wore down is all. I took out the driveshaft tonight one u joint is totally shot right next to the carrier bearing. The rubber in the carrier bearing is real soft too.

Gary, just wanted to post back about the "real" condition of my carrier. It exploded on me 2 days ago and had to be replaced. never caused a vibration until it went and then it was so bad I couldn't stand to drive the truck.

My u joint next to the carrier had no needle bearings left in it. The splines also were dry which didn't help things. 144 bucks, new joints, carrier bearing installed and a fuel filter out the door. They are even Spicer components too.
