Just what the title says... Has anyone used the "scratch Remover" products ? Which product is worth spending the time and money on? Does anyone have a trick or custom method that they use to try and remove the scratches?

Thanks.

Most of the scratches look to be in the clear coat. Except 1 right by the taillight where it looks like the ahole took out most of their anger!

There are a number of clear coat polishing compounds out there that you could try. I use a turtle wax one on minor scratches before I wax my trucks. Don't know if it will do any good in your case, but it wouldn't hurt to try it on the minor ones.

honestly you will probably need the mobile paint guy to work it and lighty air brush it..... you want to cut buff it once to see where your at in regards to paint damage,

Maguires #6 is the ticket, #6 is a cut and polish in one, buff it till it works the area and then shines up and hand wax with the same and see what you have when done, if you can catch your nail in the clear or paint it will need some love from the paint guy.

PS, all those hokey paint & chip and scratch kits dont work, there just a way to get your dough

peace, B.

Product called "scratch out" works great and you really cant screw it up, even with a buffer. Inexpensive as well, $3. 00 for an 12 ounce bottle. I buff the swirlys and animal scratches out of the hood once a year with it. My 96 grand looks great becuase I use it about once a summer to get all the hairlines and swirlys out.

Thanks For the replies. . If the truck was newer it would proably already be at a body shop, but being that it's my 98 12ver with 220k on it, I think why not try a cheap "over the counter" soultion to see if i can get it looking a little better.

I invested in a rotary buffer, and some 3m products. 3m Makes an awesome 3 step system that uses chemicals instead of abrasives to buff the paint. I used this on my wifes lifted 1500 that is all black and i removed all the desert pin stripes and scratches. and it was like a big black sheet of glass. It took me a while but was well worth it in the end. the kit was $130 from finish masters with some extra buffing pads, and I bought a good dewalt polisher on ebay for ~$50. best investment I have made in terms of car care products. Oh yes you can find the 3m stuff at your local auto paint store. it also comes with a dvd showing you how to do it. I bought mine at Finish Masters.
