My truck is not using the stock l/p. I have a Holley Blue pushing to the VP. I picked up hamburgers last night then plugged my truck in when I got home. This morning no start. I cranked and checked for fuel at the VP. My press gauge not working. Anyway it finally started. I drove 20 miles on my way to work and when I had to slow down, it died. I got out of the road and could not start it. For some reason, I removed the fuse that runs my Holley. Truck started right up. Put the fuse in , truck died. Tried it again same thing. I let the truck idle for a few minutes with the fuse out. This time it only bogged alittle when I put the fuse in. I can get it to idle then brake, apply throttle, slip it into gear, and increase thottle as I let off the brake. The truck runs great under throttle. It dies everytime you slow down unless you brake and increase throttle. If it dies, I have to repeat the whole fuse process again. I did this about 50 times today, as I do a lot of stop and go while checking my wells. If anyone has any thoughts, I would appreciate your input. I dont think it is a fuel supply problem. Possibly a computer issue? It also throws a P 1693 code.

Check the Holley. Not the fuse, the pump. That pos left me stranded in Ohio. The VP-44 can lift it's own fuel, it dont like to, but it can. MAYBE when you took out the fuse it was easier for fuel to bypass the Holley????

Thanks for your reply. I am pretty sure the holley is working because I can turn the key on and open the drain valve at the fuel filter and fuel comes out under pressure. I am going to break down and take it to the dealership in a day or two.

Remember that over pressurisation of VP fuel supply will cause your symptoms. Be sure your lift pumps internal regulator hasn't failed before you spend you money elsewhere.

P1693- DTC Detected in Companion JTEC module. Whatever that means...

When I had my Quadzilla Xzillaraider hookep up, I blew the diaphragm out of the VP because it was putting out too much fuel into stock injectors, causing backpressure to the pump, according to the mechanic. I dont know if you have a box hooked up or not, could be some of your problem.

Update.

Truck is in the shop. Bad VP. Rounding up the cash to fix. Thanks for everyones help and suggestions. Let you know how it comes out.

Update.

Got the truck back. New VP. New l/p. Valves adjusted. Bone stock again. Runs like a scalded dog. Forgot what it feels like to drive 2500 w/ CTD. Been driving '04 Chevy 1500 4. 3. I love the smell of diesel exhaust!! My CTD will now be my "leisure" vehicle and my Chevy will be my work truck. It feels good to have my CTD back home.
