A few weeks ago my 99 6 speed truck started intermitently loosing power. I checked fuel pressures and had no less than 9-10 at wot . Checked codes and found 216 code. finaly broke down and installed a new vp44 and the problem is still there. Fuel pressure seems ok still holding no less than 8 &1/2 at wot. I know thats not great but i thought its still enough to run. The power is flat and revs very slow. ????????????? help.

mworner,

What was 216 code? I don't have it listed on my code sheet (I mite have to update it).

Have you did any mods?

What is the pressure at idle?

If it is not fuel related than it is boost (psi-not there) you should check out all hoses related to turbo/intercooler.

Another question do have an exhaust brake?

216 is fuel injection pump timing failure. No it has no other mods or exaust brake. Fuel pressure at idle is 14 -15 and i checked lp volume and if flows about 56oz in one cycle. The power comes and goes ... its not gutless all the time just half. Its on or off like a light switch. It is still doing it with a new vp44 but now i dont get the 216 code.

So i broke down and took it to the dealer. I wouldnt have if i could have gotten some diagnosis help..... but anyways They told me it was a wiring problem in the harness where the wire was grounding and the conection at the map sensor was intermitantely there. The truck did need the vp anyways too cure the start problems and missing. So $264. 32 later my truck now works. Thanks to... ... ... local dodge dealer.
