Truck has the drip

A couple of weeks ago hauled the 5er into the NC Mountains. Noticed a pretty steady drip of orange liquid dripping off of the base of the AC Compressor and leading edge of the oil pan. Searched for source thinking it was the weep hole in the WP. Eventually got around to relaxing the tensioner, removing the belt from the WP Pulley. Wiped my hand all around the WP flange, nothing! Drier than a popcorn fart in the desert! Took the Bat Wing off, checked the Thermostat Housing, Dry! Finished the trip with a couple of jugs of DI water and parked it. Drove the truck locally to heat everything up for scheduled oil change, leak is greatly reduced even with substantial water in the overflow bottle. While changing the oil I checked the block/pan flange on both sides thinking it could be coming from an EGR Cooler hose, both sides dry! It's a very small amount now, that I feel is from the front of the engine but certainly can't find it with a flashlight and mirror, I don't want to waste 3 more gal of antifreeze. Any ideas?:doh:

I've seen those water pumps leak at the weep hole and quit, only to come back later. Also check the lower corner of the oil cooler... . I know this is a long shot but is the hose off the radiator going to the overflow loose and leaking?

Check the coolant hoses to the HE351ve turbo.

Thanx guys, all good points, Found the leak it was the obvious... ... WP it's leaking from a bolt hole in the WP flange. I was finally able to trace the wet spot back to that corner. Wiping my finger across the bottom of the flange did not get wet. :doh: Ordered the WP from Geno's hopefully here by the week end and I can stop the madness. Thanx again for your input.

Back over the winter I found the overflow hose coming off the top of the radiator to coolant overflow bottle needed a tiny clamp. I had the same drip down the side of the ac compressor.

I wonder where the Cummins factory pump is made? My 98 has 368K and going strong. I helped a guy replace the pump on his 03 a couple months ago. The NAPA one was Chicom so I called Geno's and even the Gates is Chicom. If the Cummins is the same crap no wonder they are not lasting very long anymore.

The NAPA one was Chicom so I called Geno's and even the Gates is Chicom. If the Cummins is the same crap no wonder they are not lasting very long anymore.

Last Cummins one I pulled of the shelf was made in India. New rather than ReCon, no core on them anymore.

Yep I think the sand box is the best in OUR LAND!!! That's where I found the best Girl in the land also. I will have to argue a bit on the horses part IMO a horse is as sharp as a BOLWING BALL, If you want smart you need to get a Mule!!!! ugly as hell they don't care!! they wont hurt themselves like a horse, so if your on top the chances of you getting hurt are far less, the ride difference is like NIGHT and DAY. I usually let people that have medical problems or that are older ride my Mule for that very reason.

Swapped WP's, took longer to get the alternator back in place than the whole project! No more runs, no drips, no errors! Good to go to the CMEP! See ya'll there.
