You're in luck - if it's stock, it should come in at 77 inches (6 foot, 5 inches), assuming there's no difference in the '01 from the '00. Still I'd recommend driving under slowly with your hand waving around the top of the truck. A surprise here could be nasty indeed!

Put it to you this way, i am 6'5 (even taller with boots) and the top of my head is several inches below the roof while standing next to my truck. so there is no way the the truck is only 6'5". I have the Michellins on my truck. If i had to estimate it, i would say to the top of the DOT lights its closer to 7'.

The 77 inch figure comes from the Dodge literature. It seems to be pretty close on my Ram based on the clearances I have with known object heights such as parking garage clearances - and my own garage... I don't have cab lights so I don't know height effect, but I assume there IS some. I always use the "wave the hand in the air" method of assuring cab clearance when trekking under a posted height if I'd not been there before, just to be sure.

77" is real close. My garage door opening measured 79" when I bought the truck and it fit under with room to spare. I went ahead and adjusted the door to the max I could get, 81", just to be sure.

I've been known to put it in 1st and drive with my head out the window to check the clearance. Low garages are kind of nerve wracking. Given the stock rake of the truck, the DOT lights may not make much diff. , especially on a quad cab.

If you get up to the bridge and are close to fitting, you could always let some air out of the tires. It's a pain in the arse, but works in a pinch. Just don't drive too far/fast when aired down.

Thanks for the replys, I reserved my cabin and will check tonight if the rain stops with a 2x4 frame set at 6ft 8 inch. I plan on measuring the water pipe clearance under the bridge just in case, who knows with my luck the road will be repaved before my visit. The cab lights are a lower profile than on earlier trucks and do not seem to add but a tad to the height.

I think 7' is pushing it... When the truck was stock, I made it in a 6'7" garage (but not by much). I park in a 6'11" garage every day at work. I have plenty of air between the roof and the structure. I can barely reach up and touch it. (And I have the front end lifted).

While I know I can fit in garages that advertise 6' 6" clearance, on an open road or trail I'd be careful of rocks and debris that could abruptly change your ride's height. Don't forget the old 'stuck truck' trick- if you got air you can let down your tires for another inch!!
