Hey guys! Need a little help please.

I've got a buddy at the dealer with a 99 24v with 90,000 miles. Truck runs like a CHAMP. . However!:

It's idling at around 1300-1350 RPMs, and the dealer claims it's the Injection Pump, and wants $1800.

There are no gauges, and no BOMB's. Totally stock CTD.

1st question is why is it high idling.

2nd. why is the injection pump bad

I know this is vague, but at the moment, It's all the info I've got. I didn't think to ask him why he had it at the dealer in the first place. I would assume just for the high idle issue.

Thanks a million for any help!

Andy

This is also posted at the 2nd gen 24v forum. Hope that's okay.

Normally, yes. Turns out, he's 25 days out of warranty. Since he's never had any service done there, they aren't extending any courtesies to him. Dealer is Music City Dodge in Nashville. Oddly enough, that's where I bought my truck.

UPDATE: He left the dealer, and went to a local injection service shop. They told him bad vp44 as a result of dead lift pump. (big shocker there). Quoted him $1750 for rebuilt LP and VP44 installed. Not bad. Still doesn't explain the High Idle though.
