Sacrifice top end HP for low end torque? What would you do?

Is this a case of still needing a bigger charger? My truck on level 4 is almost dead, it will ramp up pretty quick then start to sputter and smoke heavily, 1500* egt and will not get out of its own shadow. level 2 is the only one it likes. still runs hot though. what could be the prob? is it my box (duration only) or my turbo cant lite all the extra fuel? really pisses me off. how come a D-Max can make gobs of power and smoke with a stock charger and ours break injectors and cant handle any more fuel than what dumped in stock?

I think the root of the problem is the fact that you're running sticks and a duration box.

If you added either a pressure box or a real timing/duration box like a TST you'll do a lot better.

On edit:

Another thing is that you may be asking a bit too much of your CP3 with your injectors and BD turned up to 4. I've heard with injectors some people cannot run past 2 or 3 on the TST w/o running into rail pressure problems.

Low rail pressure leads to poor atomization of fuel, creating excessive EGT's and smoke.

I have to keep my settings mild, even with stock injectors. I did benefit from a rail gauge, as I can tune my truck better. My truck always felt flat at higher settings. The poor little injection pump just couldn't keep up.

the quickest way to check the relief valve is to remove the banjo bolt and start the truck. if fuel starts to come out of it, it is bad.
