Was driving down the road and the engine started to loose power and then just died and wont start. PU has 45,000 miles and is getting 15psi + while cranking on it trying to start it. As you can tell by sign the truck is modified. Any suggestions on what could be wrong besides the injection pump and if it is the pump how to get it covered under warranty? The pump wire has been tapped. I did remove every thing and return it to stock and that was no help. Also checked the codes and there are none present. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Eric668,

I take it you are getting 15 psi + while cranking but the engine doesn't start.

Crack open injector nut see if fuel is making it to injector. ( line wrenches are great for this)

Is your fuel sensor located before or after fuel filter?

If senor is located before you can crack open fuel supply line going into injector pump to see if fuel is reaching it.

Is the return fuel valve known to have problems on 24 valves?

If fuel is reaching injector pump and not injector, injector pump would seem to be the problem.

Is there anyway air is getting into fuel system?

Loss of power than stalling seems to point no fuel but could be electronic problem.

no start ?

Check Fuel filter, check fuse in box under hood (fuse and relay swap to test . Check for plugs on Eng . check air filter air hose from turbo . check any add on wires like exhaust brake . LOL Ron in Louisville KY P. S if you have a switch in line with the clutch check it two. :D

My 2001 is having some of the same problems. Went to start it this morning and all it does is crank. The lift pump is running this time, last time this happened it was the lift pump. Could it be the camsensor? Sorry I jumped in on this thread, but I did not want to start one for the same problem. Derek

Well mine did turn out to be the injector pump that was dead. I found a 5 star Dealer that fixed under warranty. And let me tell you they were truly a 5 star dealer. They were the best dealership I have ever had the privilege to deal with. But because the did fix mine under warranty even thought the new the pump wire had been tapped I am not going to mention their name here. But I will say they were the best. :) :) :) :D
