Ok, it all started last week when I went to start the truck and quickly discovered that the Carter pusher pump had stopped working. Thankfully in the driveway. I never liked how it was wired from the previous owner which was through the ignition. So, i decided that I would bypass the pusher pump and just install a new lift pump and go back to an OEM set up. I replaced the lift pump with some friends. Got the truck running again and there is the check engine light. Figured it was no big deal and was probably from the truck sensing a problem when the pump died. I went to take it for a test drive and quickly discovered that the truck was very low on power. It had decent low end power, but wouldn't even pull out of third gear! This is thew 6 speed truck mind you. Looked down at my PowerMax3 remote and its all blank! Park the truck and tested for codes through the odometer... came up with a p1693. Then got a hold of an OBD2 tester and it turned up more codes. Two of the same in fact. It read a p0237 twice and scrolled "turbo/super boost Sensor A circuit Low Input. " I did a basic check of the area that me and a few friends were working on when we did the lift pump (our first time) and everything seemed to be plugged in. The only thing I can think is that diesel fuel got in some of the conections when we were priming the lines. I am pretty lost. And, to top it all off when I had the ignition on looking at codes, after about 3 or 4 minutes the Carter pusher pump started running again out of no where. Could some one head me in the right direction? Truck is way down on power, have codes, and the PWRMX3 remote has nothing but a little flicker on the boost light. Thanks and sorry about the length... just kinda had to vent!

The connectors to your map sensor are not making good contact. If the computer doesn't read any boost, it doesn't add fuel, so no power. Unplug the connectors, spray them with electrical contact cleaner, then put some dielectric grease on them for good measure. Remember with the PM box you have a connector at the map sensor, and an identical connector that goes to your box.

Thats all it ended up being. I gues my theory of the diesel fuel on the contacts was right. Thanks for the advice though. On another note, now that the push pump is working again ( i'm thinking that was also the product of a bad conection) would it hurt anything to run both the pusher and lifter pumps? I would re-wire the pusher so that it worked in conjunction with the lifter instead of through the ignition, but would there be any downside like too high of fuel pressure?

I've been running mine that way for a year and a half, and well over 20,000 miles with no problems... PSI is a bit higher, at about 22 PSI at idle and 15 or so full load uphill towing our 5er, but that doesn't seem to be any problem...
