Well my dad came in my room and said Nick you truck is leaking something. So after that i couldnt even lay down anymore. I ran outside jumped under the truck... There is a leak of some sort... kinda looks like oil Light brown and very oil texture... I looked under the WHOLE engine and i dont see any possible leads. Has anyone had this happen to them? where are some spots to look... I was thinking is it possible that when i am driving the oil that comes out of the oil pipe (forgot proper name) may be blowing the oil onto something on my truck then when i park it drips down?

Please help guys:eek:

Thanks

Nick

hey x look at the power steering box from under truck, mine was leaking from top down to floor took to dealer had to replace something,no more leak

JDerbedrossian and everyone. I just ran outside looked at the pwer steering box and that is bone dry. It seems like its coming from the left side of the engine (when i stand in front on the truck facing the truck its on the left side)

Nick

Left side could be the blow-by tube or the fuel drain. the fuel drain is at the cross member, the blow-by is at the back of the block. My rear transmission seal leaking a little and it's brownish.

Ok that would be considered the right side of the truck(passenger side). Have you changed the oil lately? It may be the oil filter oe even a little splillage from removing the filter. Hope it's nothing to serious. Good Luck. Another thought, try moving the truck to a different spot on the driveway, maybe it was somebody else's vehicle that leaked while you were out.

I have a small drop under my truck to. Mine is between the power steering pump and block . My drop smells like diesel. My dealer told me mine is from the blowby tube. But I don't know if I trust there opinion. My leak is only half a dime drop. Mine has been this way for about a month, and has not gotten any worse. But I am watching that spot to make sure It doesn't get any worse. Rhino50

Tim jones : Can you see the brownish (stuff) when you park sitting on the transmission?

Midnight : I havent changed my oil lately. Sadly no1 parks where i do so it is mine.

Rhino_50 : I havent noticed it for a couple of days (according to my dad) but this spot is about as big as my hand... Not sure how long its been leaking though could have been a week or 2. Im watching it closely now. .

Anyone else have any info?

Nick

Mine was leaking light brown oil from the transfer case. A new seal to the transfer case took care of that problem.

Leaking very little but disturbing on the driveway

Hunter: when you parked on the driveway and went under the truck could you see the light brown fluid building up on the transfer case?

Nick

Guys i just went for a ride and i did my taste test again... It is OIL. And its coming from the black tube under my truck... . I checked the oil and it seems alittle high.

How can i make sure diesel fuel isnt getting in my crankcase...

Nick

Well then its probably your blow by tube/hose. Mine doesn't drip enough to leave a spot on the driveway, but it does spray my transmission so it looks like my transmission is leaking. It's just a light film of oil that attracts dirt and looks like a leak.

If you have a spot the size of a hand then I would keep an eye on it. The blow by tube shouldn't spill that much, but I guess I haven't had my crankcase overfilled either.

How do you overfill your engine when oil comes in gallons and ours takes exactly 3 gallons when changing the filter too? If you don't change your oil yourself, you might want to consider doing it in the future. Most dealerships don't use their highly trained techs to change oil. They create lube positions and fill them with people who don't know jack.

If I even thought there was a remote possibility of fuel in my crankcase; I would drain it and see for my own eyes. If it wasn't detectable by the eye then send it in to fleetguard for analysis. You can pick up a oil sample kit from whoever you buy your fleetguard filter from. There about $12.

Your oil could be a little high because you didn't let quite all of it drain before refilling at the last change. I do this frequently, because I don't wait more than about 10 minutes before putting the drain plug back in. Don't worry, I doubt you are pumping diesel into the crankcase.

I tend to agree it's the blowby tube, but like KKLepfer said, a hand-size is awful big for blowby. Is it possible it's been slowly dripping over some weeks, and built up to that size?

If by "left" you do mean "passenger side" (technically the right side), what about your turbo oil supply line? Could be loose and/or leaking a little.

Are you sure no one else is parking in your driveway:cool:

I thought I had a leak that would come and go, drove me nuts. Came to find out my friend was stopping by to play with our new puppy in his 1994 Jag (the king of leakers).
