I thought my truck was going to get another VP44 after the first replacement lasted about 4 miles. Dealer is now saying truck is fine. I got it back and hooked up to my 7k load (Camaro and trailer). A 4 cylinder ford ranger can pull this load better than my 2500 CTD that is suppost to have 500+ foot pounds of torque! I think I have had it with Dodge I might get a Duramax. Love the hell out of my CTD but I dont have the time for this.

Is there any other options or suggestions out there?

Thanks,

Sean

Is there a chance that the dealership put an SO injection pump on your HO engine?

There is a serial number on the pump... don't quote me but I'm pretty sure the last number on an SO pump is "7" and the last number on an HO pump is "8".

Worth a quick check.

There is a dyno in south Austin, about 100+ miles. What kind of numbers should I see with just an EZ, BHAF and 4" MBRP?

I hate to give up on her. By the way where is the part number on the VP44? I tried to look for it but the pump is painted black and it is kind of hard to see.

Thanks for the support,

Sean

Absolutely don't give up on the old girl. The number is hard to see, you'll probably have to use a mirror. Its on the underside of the pump facing the draver's side fender.

I will let you know what I find. I am still driving it and now at idle every once and a while the engine misfires once or twice and shakes the hell out of the truck. The engine light has not come on yet but I bet it is warming up to illuminate.

Thanks,

Sean

me too

I posted some stuff about this way back - my truck never felt really as

strong as I thought it should - but after VP under warranty, now I wish

it just had the power it used to! My EGT's are down about 100-150 deg-

absolutely can't make it go over 950 now, no matter what you do to it.

normally a good thing, but not when all you did is get a new pump!

It is no doubt fueling less, right? I'm about to give up on it as well. :{

p. s. it does not get any better mileage, not at all - just no power when

you hit a hill.

This is happening to a lot of trucks after a vp-44 replacement. Mine hasn't been the same since either, dealer says everything is normal. I think on mine the injectors may have got a little burnt. I think these trucks are a problem child from the word go. Since turning 100,000 miles its been falling apart left and right.

Did the dealer add the in tank pump? We have noticed they have very low supply pressure with the new retrofit.

Intank pump has not been performed yet. Dealer has not flashed ECM either. I should hear something back from the NEW dealer today.

From what I am hearing theses trucks are not the same after a VP44 install under warrenty. I am feeling the vibe on that.

Thanks,

Sean

Mine went in for 216 code warranty this summer at 47K Received a rebuilt vp44 The truck sounded different when I picked it up,. Not anything bad just different. But she runs just as good as with the original pump. Boost has not changed and EGTs have not changed.

Mine has the in-tank pump, and the pressures are as low as other folks

report. BUT - due to a series of misunderstandings, miscommunications,

I got the in-tank FIRST, and got to drive it with my old VP for a week

and a half. It still ran great with my old VP and low pressure, EGT's

unchanged, only problem was a come-and-go dead pedal, that was gradually

getting more frequent. When the other VP went on, is when the fun left off.

No more dead pedals, been 10K since. But have thought about getting out

and pushing on some small hills. I'm real curious about whether it was

re-flashed or not - I was under the impression it WAS - but at this point

just don't know what to think.

I had started a thread labeled dodge employee states theres only one pump for our trucks. he has a pump for sale on ebay and it is off an ho truck but he states its the same on an so truck. I emailed him on his ebay listing and he replied that he thought there was only one pump because the parts man said there was only one pump. I would verify that my truck has the right pump.

Ok

I was somehow under the impression a SO would not work electrically on

an HO truck... Anyway, I just got my mirror and flashlight and looked.

The last few digits are almost impossible to see because of a metal fuel

line running right over them, but - I get 0470506011

This is on the machined boss on bottom driver's side of pump... appears to be laser-etched numbers. Also says "Reman in CZ" I was all in a tiz over the "Re-man in CZ" when the work was 1st being done, but several members took me to task over my comments, and said new VP's were no longer being made, so this was the only choice.

I feel like I'll have as much luck talking to the wall as going back to the dealer,

but guess what I'll be doing Monday?

Just searching the old post, and found out that supposedly my #

I am seeing, 0470506011, is one of the early pumps, before some

updates... I can see this I guess, as it IS a re-man pump, but it

told me to look for either IPVR17X or IPVR15X - I don't see these

anywhere. The part # on my paperwork where the warranty work

was done, just says C-R5019658AD pump 1790. 00

below that, it says C-U5019658AD core, fuel pump -600. 00

Somebody PLEASE help me get to the bottom of this - I just can't

take much more of "shoulda bought a Dura-Max" from my friends and

family... hard core GM they are, wifies' family too.
