On my way home and truck just died out. Spit and sputtered. Got it goin and was able to pull into my driveway. No codes just p-done with the key trick. my lift pump is not working. Do you think it is the IP or is it not getting enough fuel to the IP to keep it running thanks alex

no i don't but i just startedto remove the LP and I figured i would check to see if any fuel would come out with the fuel filter off. So I turned the key on and horrible noises came from the lift pump and no fuel. SO i am on my way to get a new one. I guess i will be putting in a fuel pressure gauge

Thanks Alex

I will let you know how i make out

Put the lift pump in all ok. I checked the key method for codes and 1693 came up. Went to autozone to check it with a scanner and it didn't even show up on that. Is this normal or do i need to get a different scanner

Been out of the buis for a few yrs , so I do not remember the yr to yr changes , but there is a huge differance in the real [ pro ] scanners and what you can get for a couple hundred bucks , but if you not making a living with one then spending $2,000 - 3,000 + , may not be worth it , but I've seen on ebay , $2,500 Snap On scanners for $500 - 600 , its a lot having a computer , the pro. scanners will do so much , it takes some good training & a lot of expreince to use to there full extent .
But get yourself a set of gauges [ fuel pressure ] becouse the newer trucks [ 24 valve ] have a easly damaged main fuel pump , from I've been reading/hearing , the lift pump goes and that shortens the life of your main pump , so keep an eye out & fuel gauge .

Usually if the lift pump goes, then the VP44 injection pump runs low on pressure and could damage the diaphram. If I remember correctly it is around 4psi that the damage can occur. So keep an eye out for your lift pump.
