what is the process to replace a damaged key fob? i might be going down that road. how much is it to get the fob and the inner key cut?

Don't know if the 10 keys are different? 06 key has the remote door opener/lock built on the key. I lost one of mine early on. Went to dealer, key was like $134. 00 and they charged $85. 00 to program it. Later I bought a couple of keys (just the key, no remote) for less than $20. 00 off e-bay and programmed them myself but a local locksmith charged me $10. 00 to cut thm. Anyway if you have two working keys you can program them yourself, takes at least 30 seconds. I see some of the chipped keys at different places now like Wal-Mart etc. bg

I gotta believe that each Ram fob is unique to the truck. If it wasn't, any fob could open any truck, and "away we go". That being said, if you buy a new fob off of e-bay, does it have to be programmed by the dealer to your particular VIN?

I can't start my 10' without the fob. I can get into the truck with the emergency key, but I don't believe it will start the truck.

Not really. Each key is unique and the ECM is programmed to accept the key. The key-with-remote and key-with-gray-fob both have a chip. You can get a gray fob key as a spare and have it recognized by the ECM (programmed) . Then it'll unlock and start the truck. I'm not sure how factory alarms fit in the scheme of things. You might need a remote to disable the alarm.
