Ok, I'm stuck in Lubbock about 325miles from home with a sick truck. I drove here last night, and in the last 60 or so miles, the truck would start to bog if I tried to accelerate somewhat hard past 70mph. The truck also became very quiet. Usually, I have alot of injector rattle and noise, but when this happens, it gets quiet like a new truck, but loses power. I'm afraid to drive home, and the dealer here in Lubbock is as helpful as a nail in a tire.

Start with the fuel filter. Pay special attention to the amount and type of debris at the bottom of the filter housing.

Looking at the thread title, check f. f. first! If it only gives a certain amount of power (but runs OK up to then) seems it could be fuel related. No smoke? Idles good?

Ok, I limped home in the truck. Truck needs injectors. The current fuel filter only has 1500ish miles on it, so after the dealer swore up and down that was the problem (for $75 diagnostic fee of course) I made them check fuel supply, injector test, and anything else they were capable of doing. Finally they found 3 injectors leaking down. ! apparently isnt firing at all. So that makes alot more sense.

Ordering some Flux 1's, or Industrial Injection stage 2's in the morning.

Thanks

Before you install the new injectors, make sure the fuel system is extra clean. Change the filter again and clean out the housing. Blow out the lines and rail, and replace the connector tubes.

I'd upgrade filtering for sure. I used GDP, good parts, even better service.

This article even goes beyond usual practive here, says it will maybe get you by with one or TWO tanks of bad fuel.

Just out of curiosity, were you able to drain fuel from filter and/or find any debris or water? After a big rainstorm here in Ca a couple of weeks ago, my WIF light came on, I changed all my filters (I have 2 mic. filter +W/F sep that's fed by fuel boss, and seperate line with stock lift pump going to OEM canister with WiF sensor, so I'm not getting as good fuel filtering after around 1/4 tank) I wasn't able to save the drained fuel then, but after a later draining I did find a couple of drops of water in bottom of soda bottle.

Another member drains a little fuel every day into clear container to check for water, I thought that was good.

Ok, Flux1's are on the way, as well as the GDP 2 micron filtration setup without the pump. I'm hoping this helps to quiet the truck down as well as increase fuel economy. On the trip home from Lubbock, I got 11mpg pulling rougnly 5klbs at 65mph.

And yes Cattltrkr, its on my 06' Dually that is not listed in my signature. I have to update my sig. for sure. Since the only truck that is listed that I still own is the 98'.
