Good morning fellow RAM'ers... Is there a way to update my 2018 RAM truck navigation maps? It never really worked very well. Had me going through neighborhoods instead of highways. I have checked all the settings and I have them correct as far as allowing interstates and highways.

My gps is in my cell phone. I would guess it updates when needed for free. Was going to update the GPS in a Tundra I once had, $300.00 + for the update from dealer, no way.

I believe it's not free if there are updates available for your vehicle. Not sure of the cost.

I have a Garmin RV GPS. I have used it side by side with the factory unit and sometimes the factory unit is over 200 miles more than the Garmin! Thats a lot of extra driving and fuel. Garmin has free map updates and you can get a good one for as much as the factory charges for an update. I would prefer to use the built in GPS to not have another screen mounted, unfortunately its just not good enough.

Map updates are like $149 or $179. And can be done a couple ways, usb, download etc.
The nav in my 2015 worked fine. Used it all the time. Tell us the route settings you have set.

That's the nice thing about Carplay and Android Auto. You can use GPS on cell phone and it'll display on vehicle screen! That way you can use whichever GPS app that you prefer!

Not that I may be up to nefarious events , but I prefer stealthy, autonomous travel. I do not like to be tracked and pinged by cell phone nannies and data hoarders like google, etc. and receive all the updates of where I have been and recommendations of doing things in those locales I have traveled.

Not sure why the NAV is so bad, both my 12' SLT and my 20' have the OEM Nav and its always been accurate, and given us the best path... One lime for a laugh we went from Mebane NC --> Olean NY and I put it in the NAV and my supervisor put it in his phone (google) One said 9h, the other 7.5.. same path, as we got closer the numbers came together but route(s) were basically the same.
