went to install the new Donaldson muffler i picked up and found the rest of the exhaust isn't really worth saving. this is NOT a race truck it's used to tow the race car trailer so i want the darn thing quiet without any drone. it's stock but i "may" either slide the stock plate or install a #12. i was installing a pacbrake and wanted to install the muffler but don't think it's worth the hassle. the exhaust system i'm leaning towards is the turbo back 4" stainless magnaflow city advertises. i'd just as soon stay with the stock diameter but they're not to be found in a complete system... either way the cats going under the bench. all input appreciated i'd like to get something ordered tomorrow, wanna get this thing off the lift.

4" exhaust

After checking around and trying to make up my mind I findley went for the 4:

exhaust, turbo back from silverline exhaust. It`s a little louder than stock but I

like a little noise. I have a 95 regular cab with a tst up grade with gagues. auto

354`s rears. 265/75/r16 tires,esbar heater,Horton fan clutch,remote fuel filter.

this is not a race truck but I like the way it runs. I know that some say that a

4: exhaust doesn`t do anything but I will disagree,my truck runs much better

with the new 4: exhaust. turbo spools up faster. silverline is a real nice system

they treated me right. hope this will help you out in some way. :)

Mbrp

JM,

Look at the ones @ dieselperformanceparts.com

I have their system and like it, easy to install. The hardest part was getting the old system off!

There is some info in the P/A engine & transmission section. I think (but am not sure) that all exhaust system prices have increased this year because the price of steel has gone up 5 :{ times this year!!!

crabman :)

PS. You are going to :) the PacBrake. Get the switch that mounts on the shifter.

Exhaust Downpipe

I was looking at the magnaflow ss exhaust also for #399 also. I noticed the one at City Muffler had a 3 1/2 inch downpipe. I've seen the magnaflow listed elsewhere with 4 inch downpipe also for same price. Does it matter whether its 3 1/2 or 4 inch? Seems it should be 4 inch all the way except for the connection to the turbo. What do you guys think? I've been trying to decide between that and aluminized or SS. The Magnaflow is also listed for 98 up and not 97. Will it still fit the 97? The Cat is going with mine too. I'll be interested in what you pick since I have a 97 dually also like yours that's waiting to be bombed with #10 plate 3k gsK... . etc :-laf

Rips is the way to go. I had a 4'' down pipe and 5'' back with a 51 donadson opened up just a little. It sounded mellow but deep no drone and looked cool.

We installed Rips on my friends '01. 4 inch all the way and like mentioned it was on sale which seems to be an awesome price for complete 4, and easy install. Sounds good (he installed muffler that came with it) without being too loud.
